It has now been some time since my wife Jean and I took over the Hare and Hounds and a lot has changed in this relatively short time span.

So what has changed?

Our Bar and Restaurant have been refurbished with new leather sofas, dining chairs and mirrors. The Restaurant is now going from strength to strength, and we have just had a fantastic Christmas party season, thank you all for your support and kind comments.

January saw the launch of our Hare & Hounds Dining Club, a new and exciting way to be kept in touch with the bar & restaurant. Just send us an email with your details and we’ll add you on and keep you informed of some great new ideas, all starting with our: Steak & Grill Nights, a fixed price 2 course meal available initially on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month. Come on down, at only £15 per person, the price really is right

Our ongoing room refurbishment gathers pace. We have finished refurbishing all but one room, which is being carefully designed to maximize the feel of our lovely inn, so all rooms have new beds, bathrooms, furnishings and linen.

The Hare and Hounds is we hope fast becoming a bar, restaurant and hotel of which Speen, and Newbury can be very proud. One of the first things I wrote on our blackboards was the following, it was written not from some clever marketing angle, but purely because it was how I felt, both in October, and now….

And now, hopefully, enabling that pride to emanate around Newbury and further a field.
